The Character Sheet

Description

Name: Jack Macey
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Rank: Private
Nationality: English
Allegiance: Allies
Archetype: Sharpshooter

Physical appearance: Jack is often seen as scruffy; he usually has stubble, a creased uniform, wild hair and a lazy way of carrying himself. He has a roguish charm and is the type who harbors a subtle strength. He is not a muscle builder but instead has a slim, athletic build that makes him perfect for crawling into tight spaces and moving quickly across the battlefield. His rifle is the only 'neat' thing that Jack owns, he keeps it in pristine condition when possible. His pistol is scuffed and the wooden butt has a carving of his late best friend's signature.
Eye colour: Teal with a pattern around the pupil reminiscent of a sunflower.
Hair style/colour: His hair is dark brown and about medium length. It is usually wild and untamed but somehow holds to a similar but feral style.

Weapons: Lee-Enfield rifle modified with sniper scope. Enfield revolver. Standard knife.

Bio

Personality: Jack prefers to work alone. However when forced into group situations Jack is the silent engine. He stands back and listens, constantly thinking and rethinking, until coming to a well thought out conclusion which he promptly recommends. Jack is a man of few words, in fact he is a man of little sound. People often accuse him of sneaking up on them, but Jack is simply a very careful and light footed soldier, preferring to draw as little attention to himself as possible. He tends to look out for number one, because that is what he expects of others. However he is sometimes victim to the urge to help others, even though it could potentially put himself in danger. Ever since the death of his close friend during the war Jack has become even more cloistered and antisocial, not wishing to risk the hurt of losing someone again. However as an intelligent, rational and adaptable man he is fully aware that the future may hold perils better faced in numbers, no matter how much it pains him.
History: Born 1st January 1924 to a middle class family in Manchester, Jack had a fairly traumatic childhood. His father had fought in the first world war and because of that he was a very tortured man. His experiences during the war turned him into a strict, no none sense teacher. He rarely sugar coated the world for Jack as most parents would. For example, Jack never believed in Santa Claus and perhaps more importantly, God. From a young age Jack was taught the cynicism of a soldier but with a softness and compassion that he learnt from his mother. His father would often tell him war stories without censorship; things like how it felt to shoot a man, or hold a dying friend in your arms. Because of this Jack began to associate any kind of relationship with pain. The only people he allowed himself to care about were his parents, until he met Jacob at his secondary school. They became fast friends, sharing a similar upbringing and misanthropic world view. Just as it seemed that Jack's life was lay out ahead of him everything changed. A year before the second world war officially broke out Jack's father took his own life. He had seen the world slowly descending towards war and could not bare to face it again. He left Jack and his mother alone in the world, leaving a note for his bereaved family. Jack keeps the note with him where ever he goes, folded up in his pocket. After the death of his father Jack plummeted into a depression that was rudely interrupted by the outbreak of war. After all depression was not good enough reason to not fight, besides in his father's note it had said; 'Perhaps it's our lot in life; to fight, suffer and die.' Who was Jack to deny his destiny? Jack joined the army, quickly learning how to fire a rifle, he was a natural just like his father. Jacob too had joined the army and they were both deployed to Dunkirk in 1940. The deployment quickly turned into a rescue mission, the allied forces were being surrounded and the only choice was to retreat, but their escape was cut off by the sea. It was during 'The miracle of Dunkirk' that Jacob was killed. The allied forces slowly acquired ships to rescue their troops from Dunkirk, but the Germans weren't about to let them go so easily. During one of the German air raids, as Jacob and Jack were about to be taken on board a ship heading back to England, Jacob was hit by shrapnel. It pierced his chest and he fell to the ground, clutching the hole in his chest. He began to bleed out uncontrollably, but his last action was to give Jack his pistol that he had engraved his name on. No words were said as Jack aimed the pistol at Jacob's head. It was a mercy killing, Jack wasn't about to let his only friend in the world bleed out alone on some foreign beach. After Dunkirk Jack was deployed in various battles, honing his lone wolf sniping style over the years. Eventually he was called on to take part in the D-Day assault.

Name- Anthony Walker-Price
Age-24
Gender- Male
Rank- Flight Sergeant
Nationality- British-English
Allegiance- Allies
Archetype- The Pilot
Physical Appearance- Anthony is a little taller than average at 6ft and his frame is slim and wiry with little to no muscle. His skin is pale and exhibits a red flush in the cold that marks him out immediately as an Englishman. His hands are long, delicate and unused to hard work of any description. His uniform is immaculate and well kept.
Eye Colour- Grey/Blue
Hair Style/Colour- Very dark brown but appears black save for when under strong light. Kept a little long and parted on the right. It’s straight and always neat.
Weapons- Sidearm is a Webley MK VI revolver. Rifle is a Lee Enfeild No.I Mk. III

Personality- Anthony is the first child of three born into an aristocratic British family. He was denied nothing as a child, as an adolescent and now is denied nothing as an adult. As such, he has developed a propensity towards arrogance and self-entitlement. His assumption is that the world belongs to him and others in his periphery exist only to amuse or serve him. Spoiled and petulant, hedonism is the buzzword by which he conducts his life. Wine, women and song were his only concerns before war was declared. He perceives himself as a brave, conquering hero when in fact, he is pompous, self-important and often, cowardly. Most of his successes in life come as a result of good luck or cheating rather than through hard work. His saving grace seems to be a genuine talent for piloting aircraft. He has been trained to fly a number of planes but prefers a Hawker Tempest.

History- His family is aristocratic, clinging to and old-world belief that dabbling in any business or industry save for ownership of land is beneath them. Both wars have dealt heavy blows to their finances, a shame they have been meticulous in keeping hidden. Anthony however, seemed content to burn the rest on every passing whim. His father fought bravely during the First World War and managed to return home relatively unscathed, his mother however, passed away due to “consumption” (TB) when he was very young. He has two sisters, twins. Both equal him in decadence and disregard for the austerity of the times. Imagining that the war would be all jolly-hockey sticks, Anthony convinced his father to obtain him the rank of flight sergeant in the Royal Air Force. He has been involved in a few dogfights since the start of the war but has yet to witness the horror of full-scale battle having received news that he will not be needed in the assault on Omaha beach. He has no choice but to remain in London and await further instruction.

The Character Sheet

Description

Name: Leon Hermann
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Rank: Oberschütze (Senior Private: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obersch%C3%BCtze )
Nationality: German
Allegiance: Axis
Archetype: The Marksman

Physical appearance: Leon stands taller than most of the other soldiers in his unit at 6ft tall. His uniform is always kept as clean as possible and he services his rifle daily. On the left lapel of his uniform he wears an Edelweiss flower as it symbolizes strength and determination in German folklore and to symbolise the Edelweißpiraten group to which he once belonged.
Eye Colour: Deep Blue
Hair Style/Colour: His bright blonde hair is short, parted on the left hand side and combed very neatly.

Weapons: Gewehr 41 and his father's Luger P08 pistol.

Bio
Personality: Leon comes from a fairly well off family from Berlin, his father was one of the first to join the National Socialist party, however Leon has never agreed with the policies and believes the idea of an Aryan race to be laughable, despite being blonde haired and blue eyed himself. He is stoic and keeps to himself most of the time. Just trying to do his service without issue. He does not wish for glory and despises what has been done to the Jewish people of Germany, actively protesting against the injustices against them until he was arrested and his father had to come and bring him home, two days later his father took him to become a soldier.
History: At the age of 14 Leon joined a group called the Edelweißpiraten (Edelweiss Pirates), anti-Nazi teenagers who would rather leave school than become part of the Hitler Youth, this disappointed his father who was a firm believer in Hitler and the Nazi movement. When he turned 17 he was conscripted for military service and his father took him personally, handing him his own Luger pistol and leaving him on his own without a single word. He passed his training with flying colours, he was awarded with the rank of Oberschütze but not promoted as he hadn't seen any action. During his first deployment his commanding officer ordered him to execute a Jewish family trying to flee Germany, he refused and was beaten, locked away for a week and then returned to service. He has kept his head down ever since then, keeping his uniform and equipment well maintained, doing what is expected of him and never speaking out against an order again. This, coupled with his performance in training has caused him to become somewhat of an outcast in his unit. Leon's unit has currently been grouped together with the 352nd Infantry Division at Omaha Beach to bolster defenses.
